Fishing is life in Ghana. Most communities rely on the sea to provide income and food for their families. Daniel Quaye and his crew set out every morning far before the sun rises, using a single motor on the side of their hand carved wooden fishing canoe to navigate the coastline north of their village. Just as the sun starts to rise on the horizon, they let out the first of two nets. Minutes later, the crew starts to chant in unison while they haul in their catch, the boat nearly taking on water from its weight. They cast at least twice a day, one to sell, and one to provide for their families
